Occupancy Detection

Easy to install, nothing to adjust, designed for high reliability

In addition to turnout control, many model railroad layouts are automated to provide signaling and the ability to track trains running on the layout.  One of the most common methods to deliver such solutions is to provide occupancy detection to blocks on the model railroad layout.  There are a number of ways to provide such occupancy detection.  Some use infrared light to sense when a train is in a certain block of track while others use circuits that can sense when a car is present by sensing current flowing through the rails of a particular block.  Our occupancy detection offering provides

  • 4 circuits on one board to handle up to four blocks
  • It uses current sensing with optical isolation for best reliability
  • There are no adjustments necessary for proper operation
